How long does therapy take?

This is often one of the first questions people ask about therapy, how long will it take? The answer is: it depends! Every brain , nervous system, individual or couples story, journey, and history are unique so it is impossible to say up front how long it will take. It also depends on how often you can attend, and what format you choose like the regular weekly 50 minute session model or an intensive format.

We can assure you that it is not our goal to keep you in therapy longer than necessary. Our goal for every client is to get you feeling better as quickly as possible so that you can enjoy your life sooner rather than later. While we choose the modality that sets clients up for quick recovery, every journey is different and unique just like every client.

Do you accept insurance?

Unbroken Abundance does accept some insurance (Aetna and traditional Medicare) but not all at this time. We believe it is important for you to understand why because this is your mental health journey and we believe knowledge is power. We DO accept all credit cards, Flexible spending account payments (FSA cards) and Health Savings Account payments (HSA), and always send you a superbill so that you can obtain reimbursement for your sessions from your insurance out of network benefits. Most insurances make this a very easy and seamless way for clients to receive reimbursement. The following are just a few reasons why we do not accept all insurance and why you may choose not to use your insurance even if we accept it:

1. Administrative Burden: Dealing with some insurance companies often involves a significant amount of paperwork and administrative tasks. Many therapists prefer to focus on providing care to their clients rather than spending time navigating the complexities of insurance billing and claims processing.

2. Low Reimbursement for Billed Amounts: Insurance companies may offer very low reimbursement payments for mental health services. This is why doctors see multiple patients per hour. This can make it financially challenging for therapists to maintain their practice while accepting insurance.

3. Limited Control Over Treatment: Some insurance companies may require therapists to follow specific treatment protocols or limit the number of sessions allowed. This can impede a therapist's ability to provide individualized care tailored to each client's unique needs. We believe your time in therapy is up to you and your therapist, not an insurance company’s to dictate treatment.

4. Privacy Concerns: Insurance claims typically involve sharing diagnostic information and treatment details with the insurance company. Some clients may have concerns about the privacy of their mental health records and prefer to pay out-of-pocket for therapy to maintain greater confidentiality. No one but you and your provider deserve to know the details of you therapeutic journey. We only work with insurance that requires minimal information about your treatment to process claims and that limits the number of insurance companies we work with.

6. Delayed Payments: Insurance companies can be slow in processing and reimbursing claims. Oftentimes insurance companies take many months to pay out for your session. Many times, once they do pay they may also conduct clawbacks, which means they take back the money they’ve paid for your therapy so the therapist ends up not being paid at all or spending hours of unpaid time trying to get paid by the insurance.

7. Limited Autonomy: Therapists who accept insurance may need to obtain pre-authorization for certain treatments or adhere to specific treatment plans set by insurance companies. This can limit their clinical autonomy and the flexibility to provide the most suitable treatment for each client. We will not accept insurance that limits the client's treatment in this way.
